NEWS FROM THE NETHERLANDS

During 2006 there were initial contacts between the STIN, the Dutch organisation for ICD recipients and the Arrhythmia Alliance in the UK. Marinus Split and Herman Somberg, two STIN boardmembers, came over to find out it organizations like the Arrhythmia Alliance were also suitable for the Netherlands.  This initiative has lead to the official establishment of the Arrhythmia Alliance in the Netherlands, the AA-NL. This organization will act as an umbrella for three dedicated Dutch heart patient organizations, the STIN (ICD recipients), the SPdN (Dutch Pacemaker Foundation) and Hartritme Nederland (Dutch Foundation for Heart Arrhythmias). The AA-NL will be promoting the interests in general issues ,while the three patient organizations will address specific issues themselves. Not only has the world as a whole become a global village, but also healthcare  will more and more become an European issue. It has been decided that, wherever relevant and feasible, the AA-model will act as a reference in other European countries.
